Costa Rica regulates cannabis and hemp use in food

The Costa Rican Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Trade has published a new draft Technical Regulation on hemp and derivatives that contain hemp. It introduces comprehensive regulations for the production, industrialization, and marketing of non-psychoactive cannabis and hemp. This legal framework permits the use of cannabis for medicinal and therapeutic purposes and hemp for food and industrial applications. The decree outlines strict standards for manufacturing practices, supply chain and product quality to ensure public safety. Additionally, it mandates authorization processes for entities involved in these activities.
