CBD Novel Food Applications

The FSA and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) have published the first safety assessments for applications for cannabidiol (CBD) as a novel food. They have now entered the risk management phase, after which the FSA and FSS will make recommendations to ministers across Great Britain (GB) on the authorization of these applications. The current timetable calls for issuing the first recommendations to ministers in spring/summer 2025, following an eight-week public consultation starting in early 2025.
