Review of 17 food additives

The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced the revision of the standards of 17 food additives, including Steviol glycosides.

The main points of this revision are as follows:

  1. Revise the specifications and standards set by the Codex Alimentarius Commission and high health surveillance countries on the use of Steviol glycosides, Calcium citrate, Acid clay (activated clay), Blue No. 1 Al-rich, Blue No. 2 Al-rich, Yellow No. 4 Al-rich, Yellow No. 5 Al-rich, Red No. 7, Green No. 3, Red No. 40, Sodium L-aspartate, L-α-aminoisovaleric acid, α-glycosyl isoquercitrin and Glacial acetic acid standards.
  2. Modification of the product names of L-carnitic acid, L-tartaric acid and Steviol glycosides.
  3. Renewal of the scope and limit of Acid activated clay.
  4. Renewal of the specifications and standards for L-carnitine and acid activated clay, in line with international standards.
