FSSAI changes nomenclature of blended edible vegetable oil

FSSA published a new directive changing the nomenclature ââBlended Edible Vegetable Oilâ or âMulti Source Edible Vegetable Oilâ now to simply âMulti Source Edible Oil.â At the Food Authority 33rd Meeting, the FSSAI (authority) determined to remove the term âvegetableâ and change the terminology as âMulti Source Edible Oilâ wherever specified in the food safety and standards regulations. The authority is extending the compliance timeline now until November 17, 2021, when conformity with the new mandatory labeling and display regulations come into effect. Earlier, the effective compliance date had been set for June 8, 2021.
