AMS to Reopen Comment Period on Instructions to Validate a Refining Process for the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard

The U.S. Department of Agricultureâs Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will reopen the comment period regarding the draft instructions to validate a refining process. A notice announcing the availability of the draft instructions was initially published in the Federal Register on December 17, 2019, with comments due by January 16, 2020. In response, several stakeholders requested an extension of the comment period. Although the initial 30-day comment period will close on January 16, 2020, AMS will publish a second notice in the Federal Register announcing that the comment period will be reopened for an additional 15-day period.
