Legislation for food control in the Arab countries of the Middle East
Dec 15, 2021
Food safety hazards and their transmission routes are changing over time due to the advancing food production methods and globalized distribution, changes in diets and eating habits, emerging foodborne pathogens, and the effects of climate change. Concomitantly, the international food safety regulations and requirements continue to evolve to adapt to food safety challenges and the rapid changes along the global supply chain to prevent foodborne diseases. This chapter identifies the food safety regulatory framework and operational approach in the Arab countries of the Middle East. It further explores the transition in their regulatory systems to adapt to the changing global regulatory requirements and ensure consumers’ right to safe food.
