Ministry of Health announces adoption of new food and beverage sanitary regulations

The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance has issued a notification to the World Trade Organization (WTO) announcing the adoption of the Dominican Republic's Food and Beverage Sanitary Regulations by July 27, 2025. The purpose of the updated Regulation is to establish the sanitary conditions and regulations to which the following processes must conform: production, handling, importation, exportation, processing, packaging, storage, distribution, transportation and sale of food for human consumption. It is mandatory throughout the country, for individuals or legal entities related to or involved in the processes provided for therein, as well as for establishments, means of transport and distribution for such purposes to ensure the protection of human health and safety.
