New requirements for certain dairy products and specific food additives derived from animals

With the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2025/637 of 29 January 2025, the Commission amending Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2292 as regards the requirements for the entry into the Union of certain dairy products, certain food additives derived from animals, collagen casings, minced meat, meat preparations, mechanically separated meat and composite products containing gelatine capsules.

According to Article 6, paragraph 1, letter a) of Regulation (EC) No. 853/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, operators of food businesses importing animal products from third countries are required to ensure that imports will only occur if the third country is included on a list of countries authorized for such imports, which is established in accordance with Article 11 of Regulation (EC) No. 854/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, as amended by Articles 126 and 127 of Regulation (EU) 2017/625. This provision of Regulation (EC) No. 853/2004 indicates that imports of animal products from third countries not included on these lists are prohibited.
