CFSA officially implements the standard for the use of food additives (GB 2760-2024)

The latest version of GB 2760-2024 "National Standard for Food Safety and Use of Food Additives" was officially implemented on February 8, 2025.
- The definition of food additives has been revised
Artificial or natural substances added to food to improve its quality, color, aroma and taste, as well as for preservation, freshness and processing needs. Also included are food flavorings, base substances in chewing gum-based candies, processing aids for the food industry and nutritional enhancers.
- The usage requirements of some food additives have been modified.
- The total amount requirements for aspartame, acesulfame potassium and aspartame acesulfame when used together in the same food category have been added.
- The correspondence between the use of liquid beverages and the corresponding solid beverage food additives in the beverage category has been improved.
- The regulations on the use of sulfur dioxide, carrageenan, guar gum, dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt were revised.
- Some varieties of additives/regulations for use were removed.
- Types of food additives and their regulations for use that are no longer necessary for the process after investigation, such as aloe vera red, buddleja yellow, jujube color, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, seaweed gum, and azodicarbonamide, were removed.
- Regulations on the use of preservatives in canned foods, glacial acetic acid in vinegar, natamycin in fruit and vegetable juices, b-carotene and diacetyltartaric acid mono- and diglycerides in distilled beverages have been removed.
