Micronutrient levels in fortified foods updated

The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries has published Order No 1320 (replacing Order No 748/19/06/2024) which updates the maximum levels of vitamins and minerals in fortified foods.

The executive order applies to the addition of vitamins and minerals to foods with the exception of:

- Dietary supplements.

- Breast milk substitutes and complementary mixtures.

- Processed cereal-based foods and porridges for infants and young children.

- Foods for special medical purposes.

- Weight control products.

- Household salt and salt included in bread and common bakery products, to which 20 mg of iodine or less per kg of salt has been added.
