ANMAT announces new advertising standards for food and dietary supplements

The National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT in Spanish) has published Provision 4059/25 establishes the new rules on advertising aimed at the general public, disseminated in traditional, non-traditional and/or digital media, of national or imported products that include Food Products and Dietary Supplements.

The advertising of the described products shall comply with the following general principles:

  • Only products that have obtained the corresponding authorization may be advertised.
  • Advertising shall promote the adequate, safe and rational use of the product, objectively presenting its properties, characteristics and uses without deception or misleading, providing truthful, accurate and clear information, according to the information approved by the health authority.
  • Advertising should be carried out in accessible and understandable language.
  • It will be the responsibility of the owners of the products to guarantee, according to the consideration of the specific characteristics of the media used for advertising, the proper use of the name, attributes and/or messages disseminated in relation to the product.
