The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has issued an interim decision notice on pyridoxine, pyridoxal, or pyridoxamine, which are different forms of vitamin B6. The interim decision proposes to change the current vitamin B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine) schedule so that oral preparations containing 50 mg or less per recommended daily dose will be available for general retail sale.
Now open for public consultation, the document proposes a number of changes to improve safety and consumer awareness, including restricting the sale of some vitamin B6-containing product preparations to pharmacies only.
