Discussions on new food additive technical regulation requirements conclude

In recent days, the final seminar on unified approaches to the implementation of new requirements of the technical regulation “Safety requirements for food additives, flavoring agents and auxiliary substances” (CU TR 029/2012), which came into force on February 27 this year, was held at the Department of Technical Regulation and Accreditation of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
The series of seminars, the first and second of which were held in April and July 2024, was organized at the proposal of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus due to the large number of changes adopted by the EEC Council Decision in August 2023 and affecting up to 70% of the technical regulation.
After the discussions held at the first two seminars, the answers to 27 questions prepared by the Department were agreed upon, including the possibility of using stevia extracts, food additives for types of food products not included in the technical regulation, differences between functional and non-functional food additives, differences between complex and flavoring food additives, peculiarities of marking of multicomponent food products, peculiarities of conformity assessment of different points of the technical regulation and the transition period.
