Amendment published on six food additives used in fruit wine

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has issued Notification No. 2024-56, which partially amends the Food Additives Code. The amendments are as follows:
- Expand the certification standards for natural sources of preservatives.
- Modify the standards for the use of some food additives: the new standard for the use of 6 food additives such as sulfur dioxide in fruit wine is set, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose phthalate can be used for the production of enteric health functional food capsules.
- Expand the application range of propylene glycol in the food industry.
