Sep 26, 2024

The Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism has published a draft regulation entitled “Draft Government Decision on the provision of information for the marketing of food products with the application of NUTRI SCORE nutrition labeling”. According to the draft, sellers marketing food products in retail premises will be allowed to introduce food products bearing the “Nutri-Score” label on the market with the obligation to ensure complete, correct and accurate information to consumers on the nutritional values of the products.

The “Nutri-Score” nutrition label will consist of the graphic representation relating to a given nutrition claim and must contain information on the composition of the foodstuffs.

In order to voluntarily adhere to the complementary form of presentation represented by the “Nutri-Score” nutrition label, operators are required to inform the Consumer Protection Authority (ANPC) in writing and to provide proof that they are entitled to use the “Nutri-Score” mark of Santé Publique France.
