China aims for less excessive packaging

The Chinese National Standardization Administration Committee has released the Second Amendment to the National Food Safety Standard Restricting Excessive Packaging for Foods and Cosmetics (GB 23350-2021). 

The amendment includes the revision of the requirements for packaging layers, packaging cost, total product mass, and k-values. For most of these categories, producers get an extended period to implement the changes untill March 1, 2025. However, the requirement of k-values will be implemented immediately.
