MHLW Bans a Designated Food Additive in Food Products

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) has issued an amendment to revise the food additive list. As per the amendment, 3,6-dimethyl-5,6,7,7a-tetrahydro-2(4H)-benzofuranone will be removed from the Essence List of 18 Kinds as of December 31, 2024.
