FTC Warns about Advertisement of Aspartame and Sugary Products

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has warned two trade associations abouth the use of health influencers for promoting the safety of the artificial sweetener aspartame and the consumption of sugar-containing products through Instagram and TikTok posts.

The warning letters express concerns about the violation of the FTC Act due to the failure to adequately disclose that the influencers were hired to promote the safety of aspartame or the consumption of sugar-containing products. This action follows FTC’s recent revision of the Commission’s Guides for Endorsements and Testimonials.
