Jul 26, 2023
Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA in Portuguese) has released a note on the evaluation of the food additive titanium dioxide, aligning with the indication of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which have decided to re-evaluate the substance, based on the expanded data collection expected to be completed in 2024.
At the moment, the authorizations for the use of the additive in foods that were in force until 2021 are maintained, although new authorizations remain suspended.
