Alpha-amylase as a processing aid

The Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has assessed an application to amend the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code to permit alpha-amylase sourced from a genetically modified strain of Bacillus subtilis containing the alpha-amylase gene from Thermoactinomyces vulgaris, as a processing aid in the manufacture of bakery products.
