Report on energy labeling of alcoholic beverages
Australia
Feb 22, 2022
The report includes preliminary analysis on regulatory and non-regulatory labeling options, and follows an initial evidence assessment conducted in June 2021. The initial evidence assessment found that labels on most packaged alcoholic beverages do not provide information on energy content to enable consumers to make informed choices, in line with dietary guidelines
Based on these findings, a proposal is designed to consider changing the Food Standards Code to include a requirement for energy labeling of alcoholic beverages
