Use of dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt banned in starch products from 2025 onwards

The new version of the “National Food Safety Standard for the Use of Food Additives” (GB 2760-2024) published in March 2024, prohibits the use of dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt in starch products, bread, cakes, baked food fillings. At the same time, the maximum amount of use in pickled vegetables was reduced from the original 1 g/kg to 0.3 g/kg.
The new version of the standard will be implemented on February 8, 2025.
