On the 28th of June, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a draft law to improve the regulation on food supplements. This legislation, pending approval by the Verkhovna Rada, aims to align Ukrainian laws with EU standards and close existing regulatory gaps. Health Minister Viktor Lyashko emphasized that supplements are not cures and highlighted the risks of mislabeling medicinal products as supplements. The new law will enforce stricter registration and labeling requirements, regulate permissible ingredients and doses, and improve state control. Businesses face heightened accountability for non-compliance. The Ministry of Health will also establish a public notification system for new supplements.
