Published Draft Reformulation Targets for Complementary Foods
Ireland
Oct 30, 2023
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has published a consultation on draft reformulation targets for commercially available complementary foods (CACFs), outlining the rationale and methodology behind their development.
CACFs are foods marketed to infants and young children under 36 months (excluding infant and young child formulas and food supplements). The document follows the publication in 2016 of the "Obesity Policy and Action Plan – A Healthy Weight for Ireland", which outlines ten steps to be taken within a 10-year time frame to prevent overweight and obesity in Ireland, among which is food reformulation.
The public consultation is open unitl 27 November 2023.
