Government and private sector to join efforts against counterfeit dietary supplements

In recent days, a meeting was held between the National Consumer Secretary, the executive secretary of the National Council to Combat Piracy (CNCP in Portuguese), representatives of the Federal Police and the president of the Federal Nutrition Council (CFN in Portuguese) to develop measures to combat illicit practices, promote consumer health and ensure transparency in the food supplement market. Joint actions are planned to promote debates, inspections and awareness campaigns on the risks of counterfeit food supplements.
The president of the CFN stressed the importance of the work of nutritionists to ensure the quality and safety of food. “The Federal Nutrition Council reaffirms its commitment to contribute technically to the construction of public policies that promote health and combat the counterfeiting of products that directly impact people's lives,” he said.
