DGAL proposes to modify the regulation on nutrients authorized in food supplements
France

According to specialists in the sector of production, formulation and manufacture of food supplements, they have just learned that the General Directorate of Food (DGAL in French) has just initiated a revision of the decree of May 9, 2006 concerning the nutrients that can be used in the manufacture of food supplements.
This is why Senator Jean-Raymond Hugonet draws the attention of the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry to the modification of the Decree on vitamins and minerals.
By modifying its regulatory framework, a few months before the current European harmonization, France is imposing two successive reformulations of its products on French food supplement operators (a first time after the entry into force of the new French decree, a second time after the entry into force of the future European harmonization regulation) generating very significant additional costs throughout the production line. At a time when the Government has expressed the desire to accelerate the path of administrative simplification, this situation seems to go against the desired path.
Furthermore, for the sake of administrative facilitation, he would like to know if the Directorate General for Food could not recast its decree in a coordinated manner with the future European framework, allowing professionals in the sector to undergo a single regulatory review, thus avoiding the economic inconvenience caused by these legal transpositions.
