ANVISA proposes to update regulations on contaminants in foodstuffs

The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA in Portuguese) has published a draft amendment to the Normative Instruction - IN No. 160, dated July 1, 2022, which establishes the maximum tolerated limits (MRLs) of contaminants in food, specifically:
- Maximum tolerated limits of metals
- Maximum tolerated levels of mycotoxins
- Maximum tolerated limits for other contaminants
