On June 25th 2024, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2024/1756, amending and correcting the existing Regulation (EU) 2023/915 on maximum levels for certain contaminants in food.
The new Regulation clarifies points in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2023/915, updates rules on sampling and analysis, and adjusts maximum levels for contaminants like ergot sclerotia, T-2 and HT-2 toxins, tropane alkaloids, and hydrocyanic acid.
The amendments aim to enhance consumer safety and ensure clearer enforcement guidelines for food contaminants, particularly in products like cereals and baby food.
