Indonesia announces new regulation on labelling of food supplements and natural medicines

The Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has issued Regulation No.10 of 2024 on labeling for natural medicines, quasi-medicines, and health supplements. Effective June 3, 2024, the regulation requires clear, accurate, and non-misleading labels, including product composition, claims and expiration dates. Halal labels and alcohol content must also be specified. This move aims to protect public health and ensure product safety and quality. Existing products must comply within 24 months. BPOM will oversee enforcement and issue sanctions for non-compliance.
