Commission authorizes isomaltulose from microbial source as a novel food

On the 6th of June 2024, the European Commission (EC) authorized the placing on the market of isomaltulose powder as a novel food.

This authorization differs from the previous authorization of isomaltulose as it is derived from a microbial source as opposed to the previously authorized enzymatic source.

The novel food is authorized without proprietary data protection.
