Mattilsynet proposes amending the Novel Food Regulation

The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) submits for consultation a proposal for a regulation amending Regulation No. 1215 of 25 July 2017 on novel foods (Novel Food Regulation).

Main content of the proposed regulation:

The regulation will implement seven regulations amending Regulation (EU) 2017/2470 on the Union list of novel foods in Regulation No. 1215 of 25 July 2017. 1215 on novel foods:

  • Approval of UV-treated whole larvae powder of Tenebrio molitor (yellow mealworm).
  • Approval of changes to the conditions of use and specifications of isomaltooligosaccharide.
  • Approval of Lemna minor and Lemna gibba (duckweed) plants.
  • Approval of glucosylhesperidin.
  • Approval of changes to the specifications of partially defatted rapeseed powder from Brassica rapa L. and Brassica napus L.
  • Approval of changes in the conditions of use of Schizochytrium sp. oil (FCC-3204).
  • Approval of mushroom powder with vitamin D2.
