MHW rules on the use and labeling of Broccoli Seed Extracts

The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW) of Taiwan Food and Drug Administration has issued the “Use of Broccoli Seed Extracts and Labelling Regulations”.
The regulation stipulates the following points:
- The extract is prepared by filtering the seeds of Brassica oleracea var. italica.;
- The seed extract must comply with the standard procedures and specifications;
- Intended to be used for adults only with a daily consumption limit of 8 mg;
- Foods using broccoli seed extract as an ingredient shall carry health warning statements as mandatory labeling requirements;
- Pregnant and lactating women and patients with health-related issues shall seek medical supervision before consumption.
The regulation is effective from June 08, 2023.
