Paper on gene editing and food security published

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has released a report on food safety considerations for regulating foods derived from gene editing (also known as “genome editing”) to help national authorities develop and implement policies and regulatory criteria for food products derived from gene editing. This report also highlights areas where there are opportunities for national competent authorities to benefit from the existing and ongoing work of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Codex Alimentarius and for scientific advice, capacity development, knowledge transfers and information exchanges.
