Amendment to prohibit the use of trans fats

The initiative submitted to the National Food Commission (CONAL in Spanish) and available for public consultation proposes to update the current regulations on the presence of trans fats in commercialized foods.

In this context, the proposal is to "lower to 2% for all foods, including those used as ingredients or raw materials, and eliminate the supply of partially hydrogenated oils", said the specialist.
