Draft amendment on characterization of novel food ingredients including dietary supplements published

The draft resolution proposes to replace Article 1.417 of the Argentine Food Code (C.A.A.), which will be worded as follows: "Article 1.417: The ingredients/products listed below shall respond to the characteristics established in each case:
β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate (HMB): identification and purity as established in FCC, USP and other Pharmacopoeias.
- ID max. 3 g
- Use: as an ingredient for use in dietary supplements.
Beta-alanine (Ã-ALA): Identification and purity according to FCC, USP and other Pharmacopoeias.
- ID max. 2 g., in servings or unit intakes of no more than 300 mg.
- Use: as an ingredient for use in dietary supplements."
