The highlight of this bill is that it will make sesame the ninth top U.S. allergen. The Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education, and Research (FASTER) Act of 2021, which, among other aspects of the law, will require food manufacturers to declare âsesameâ as a major food allergen on packaging and labeling. President Joe Biden is expected to sign the FASTER Act into law, mandating food manufacturers to update their labels by Jan. 1, 2023.
