Summary | 1792 batches of imported foods were rejected in 2019, increase of 32.6%

According to the monthly notices of rejected foods and cosmetics by GACC from January to December, 2019, FOODMATE has summarised the data and found out 1,792 batches of unqualified imported foods in 2019, increasing 32.6% when compared to 1,351 batches in 2018. 

During the whole year, most of the imported foods were rejected in June, October, July and March, the detailed information by month is indicated on the Global Foodmate website.

In 2019, unqualified foods came from over 80 countries or regions, among which, Japan, Taiwan area, Vietnam and US were the Top 4.

The foods refused for entry did not comply with China’s laws and regulations. The main reasons of rejection were: illegal food label, excessive use of food additives, without required certificates or qualified documents, without quarantine approval, etc. The rejected information by month in 2019 can be found as follows:
