NICOTINAMIDE RIBOSIDE CHLORIDE AUTHORIZED AS NOVEL FOOD

The authorization of nicotinamide riboside chloride as a permitted source of Niacin in food supplements has been officially published in the EU official Journal and will enter into force next month, 2 February. The authorization has been awarded with data protection for the studies submitted within the novel food application. The data protection, which provides an exclusive right of commercialization, remains to the advantage of the US company ChromaDex Inc. until 20 February 2025. The conditions of use further specify that the use of nicotinamide riboside chloride should be limited to 300 mg/day for the general adult population, and to 230 mg/day for pregnant and lactating women.
