FDA to require all importers to have halal certification for products

The Food and Drug Authority (FDA) issued a circular to the Federation of Saudi Chambers to advise importers that they must present a halal certificate issued by one of the Saudi Halal Center's accredited entities for products that require it.

The Saudi Halal Center seeks to improve confidence in halal products locally and globally by collaborating with local and international partners to standardize standards, ensure quality and transparency. The Center aims to improve the reliability of the halal system, ensure compliance with standards and spread the Kingdom's global halal brand. In addition, it aims to provide innovative and quality services, achieve global leadership in the halal sector and attain operational excellence.
