From May 1, 2025, in Uzbekistan, products and services certified in accordance with the requirements of the Standards and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC) will be able to be labeled with the sign “Halal”.
The Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 57 , in particular, approved the Procedure for certification of products and services for compliance with Halal requirements.
The initiative will establish certification bodies and base requirements for products and services on international standards.
The Technical Regulatory Agency of Uzbekistan, together with the Committee for Religious Affairs, will carry out accreditation of certification structures within six months with the participation of international organizations.
It is also planned to develop an official standard defining the shape and size of the “Halal” sign. The resolution will come into force three months after its official publication.
