FSSAI elevates food packaging materials to "critical" status in inspection checklists

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a change in its inspection checklists, reclassifying the item related to “food grade packaging material” from “non-critical” to “critical” for various sectors of the food industry.
FSSAI has recognized that food packaging plays a critical role in preventing contamination and maintaining food safety. The authority also cites provision 3 (14) of the FSS (Packaging) Regulations 2018, which highlights the importance of food grade packaging.
