New draft regulation for the use of poppy and coca plants for medical, scientific and industrial purposes

The Ministry of Justice and Law published a draft decree authorizing the use of coca and poppy plants in the medicinal, scientific and industrial fields. The new regulations would allow academia to develop new scientific advances and generate knowledge regarding biological components that can be used in legal productive initiatives, which would continue to position the country as a source of scientific knowledge on the subject of drugs.
The regulatory project, aligned with the National Development Plan and the National Drug Policy, establishes that projects on the subject will be presented by public entities to the National Narcotics Council and will have the participation and association of ethnic or rural communities.
