Codex proposes to develop guidelines for food fraud prevention and control

The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) issued Circular Letter CL2024/71 to receive comments on the draft Guidelines for the prevention and control of food fraud.

The purpose is to provide guidance to competent authorities and food business operators (FBOs) on the prevention, detection, mitigation, and control of food fraud to help protect the health of consumers, and to ensure fair practices in food trade, including feed for food producing animals.

The comment period ends on 3 September 2024.
