South Korea amends regulation on food imports

On June 13, 2024, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of South Korea published Notice No. 2024-26, amending the Regulations on Declaration and Inspection of Imported Food. The amendment aims to streamline the import application process for raw materials used in domestic production and foreign exchange acquisition. It expands the scope to include raw materials (excluding aquatic products) declared by registered food production, processing enterprises, and food additive manufacturers. The amendment also allows the submission of test and inspection reports from recognized foreign institutions and specifies the required documents for an application.
