New food safety requirements for imported food

Australia

Oct 02, 2024

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has released a proposed amendment to the food safety requirements outlined in the Imported Food Control Order 2019. The new requirements focus on dates, melons, enoki mushrooms, pufferfish and kava as these foods will be classified as risk foods.

FSANZ will assess all submissions and consider whether modifications to the proposed risk management are required while still achieving the objectives of the Imported Food Control Act 1992
