India will require the use of approved test methods to evaluate fortifying agents in rice

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued an order to all notified Testing Laboratories approved for testing of fortifying agents (Iron, Vitamin B9 and Vitamin B12) in fortified rice, fortified rice kernel and vitamin-mineral premix for fortified rice kernel to mandatorily use FSSAI-approved test methods only. All such labs are directed to include the FSSAI test methods in their scope within 4 months from the issue of this order.
