FSSAI extends transition period for mandatory registration of Foreign Food Manufacturing Facilities

Following the request received from various stakeholders, with Order dated 4 April 2024 the FSSAI granted an extension of the transition period for the mandatory registration of Foreign Food Manufacturing Facilities (FFMF).

As per Order dated 10 October 2022, registration of Foreign Food Manufacturing Facilities intending to export milk and milk products, meat and meat products including poultry, fish and fish products, egg powder, infant food and nutraceuticals to India is mandatory from 1 February 2023.

However, to avoid disruption in export, the FSSAI has now informed that the import of articles of above said food categories to India will be allowed till 31 August 2024 from both registered and non-registered foreign food manufacturing facilities.
