FSSAI publishes temporary list of authorized processing aids

The Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has published a temporary "Active list of processing aids allowed for use by Food Business Operators".
The temporary list contains several processing aids that are being considered by the Working Group (WG) on Processing Aids and Scientific Panel on Food Additives, Flavourings, Processing Aids and MateriaIs in Contact with Food. Many of these have been recommended by the Scientific Panel and are in the process of draft notification, others are still under evaluation.
Since notification of such processing aids is likely to take sorne time, the FSSAI has published the Active list for use by food businesses on provisional basis, and has instructed local officials not to take any punitive action on FBOs for using the processing aids listed therein that are yet to be notified for enforcement.
