DIGEMAPS to be a decentralized autonomous agency

By Decree N° 231-23 published at the end of June 2023, the General Directorate of Medicines, Food and Health Products (DIGEMAPS in Spanish) will no longer be a dependency of the Ministry of Public Health, from now on it is a decentralized agency. Pursuant to the Decree, the process of functional deconcentrating of DIGEMAPS will begin immediately and will conclude when all the legal conditions for it have been fulfilled, which may not exceed 6 months from the date of the decree.
One of the objectives of this change is to promote the homologation of sanitary registrations of food products from countries such as the United States and those that are part of the European Union.
