Restrictions on the use of Eucalyptus globulus and its extracts in food flavourings

Taiwan

Feb 20, 2023

The Ministry of Health and Welfare is limiting Eucalyptus globulus to use in food flavourings after re-assessing its safety and medical properties.

From January 1, 2024, eucalyptus leaves and their extracts will not be used as food raw material, only as food additives and spices. As for domestic or imported products manufactured before the entry into force of the new restrictions, they may continue to be sold until the expiration date.
